The Bowler hat was devised in 1849 by hatmakers Thomas and william Bowler. They were commisioned by William Coke, a customer who designed a low cut, close fitting hat to improve protection against low-hanging branches while on horseback.
British designer Jake Phipps had a few ideas himself and that if all goes well with my DIY project, will be hanging next to my bedside table.
